I've wanted to try time lapse photography for quite some time now. After speaking with the über talented Lexi Bass, we decided to give it a go. We used a location previously scouted by the amazing Rob Liliedahl (whom was kind kind enough to share, as most photographers aren't in to giving away their cool spots).
I did some math before hand and decided to go one shot every 3 seconds using an intervalometer. After beginning the series, and noticing that the clouds didn't seem to be moving too quickly, I changed my mind and moved to 1 shot per 10 seconds to save on shutter actuations. In hind sight, I wish I would have gone with my first decision, as I think the final output looks a little choppy and if I had shot more frames it would have been more fluid. But that's OK, because this was all about being a learning experience.
422 Frames
1 hour, 10 minutes of shooting
45 minutes drive time
~ 1 hour downloading/editing (thanks Lexi!)
1 hour, 30 minutes video upload to Vimeo (I need to get a pro account if I'm going to keep doing this...)
1/125 second, f11, ISO 100, white balance/autofocus/autoexposure disabled
Unedited large JPEG images
= 18 seconds of footage!
